Summer 2007. 2 week-long road trip up the U.S. west coast and into the Rocky Mountains.
Los Angeles, California -> Hearst Castle / Big Sur, California -> San Francisco, California -> Redwoods National Park -> Oregon Caves National Monument -> Portland, Oregon -> Mount Rainier National Park -> Seattle, Washington -> Olympic National Park -> North Cascades National Park -> Grand Teton National Park -> Jackson, Wyoming
Armed with my first DSLR camera (Canon Rebel XT / 350D), this trip was also a first in a multitude of ways – the first multi-thousand-mile car trip, the first in putting nature destinations above big cities, the first solo (second portion) venture, and certainly the first time to nearly all of the places visited. Having used the kit 18-55mm lens for nearly 2 years at that point, I was perplexed to find the rental 16-35mm lens to be so incredibly heavy and humongous with hardly a wider capture (it wasn’t until yet another couple years or so that I would discover crop vs. full sensor differences).
